Measuring Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) Computer-Based and Paper-Based: Examining the Mode Effect in Reading Accuracy and Reading Fluency

چکیده

Internationally, teachers use oral reading fluency (ORF) measurements to monitor learning progress in and adapt instruction the individual needs of students. In ORF measures, child reads aloud single syllables, words, or short passages, teacher rates parallel at which items makes a mistake. Since administering paper-based requires increased effort on part teachers, computer-based test administration is available. However, there are still concerns about comparability modes. our study, we examine mode effects between scores for both speed accuracy using German-language assessment monitoring. 2nd- 3rd-year-students (N = 359) with without special education participated study. Results show comparable high reliability (r > 0.76) no differential item functioning Furthermore, students showed significantly higher test, while differences were found accuracy. absence functioning, discuss how mean can be accounted for, trained different modes, tests safeguarded practice.

Oral reading fluency in second language reading

This study investigated the role of oral reading fluency in second language reading. Two hundred and fifty-five high school students in South Korea were assessed on three oral reading fluency (ORF) variables and six other reading predictors. The relationship between ORF and other reading predictors was examined through an exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Next, the contribution of ORF to silen...

Running head: ORAL AND SILENT READING FLUENCY

Silent reading fluency has received limited attention in the school-based literatures across the past decade. We fill this gap by examining both oral and silent reading fluency and their relation to overall abilities in reading comprehension in fourth-grade students. Lower-level reading skills (word reading, rapid automatic naming) and vocabulary were included in structural equation models in o...

Developmental, Component-Based Model of Reading Fluency: An Investigation of Predictors of Word-Reading Fluency, Text-Reading Fluency, and Reading Comprehension.

The primary goal was to expand our understanding of text reading fluency (efficiency or automaticity)-how its relation to other constructs (e.g., word reading fluency and reading comprehension) changes over time and how it is different from word reading fluency and reading comprehension. We examined (1) developmentally changing relations among word reading fluency, listening comprehension, text...
